✨ What exactly is TICAD?
🔎 About TICAD
TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development) began in 1993 as a Japan-led international forum focused on African development.
It is co-hosted by the Government of Japan, the United Nations (UN), the African Union Commission (AUC), the World Bank, and other partners. Heads of state from African countries, representatives of international institutions, and business leaders all convene to discuss policy and collaboration.
📍 This is the fourth time TICAD has been held in Yokohama.
As the host city, local and national governments together with private industry have worked to position Yokohama as “the city closest to Africa” in Japan.
Over the years, TICAD has expanded from purely policy dialogue into a vibrant platform where the private sector and international cooperation intersect—strengthening public-private partnerships for sustainable African growth.
